The FTA has called on the DfT to revisit its assumptions and calculations on which its Freight data feasibility study is based. The report rejects the case for a vignette and a database of foreign vehicles to improve safety on UK roads.
Simon Chapman, the FTA's chief economist, says: "The DfT and its consultants seem to have got their decimal places wrong and the report appears to undercook the benefits by several orders of magnitude. "The research needs to be independently reviewed by a neutral third party."
