Cenex to action DfT's low-carbon vehicle scheme

11 April 2008

Low carbon and fuel cell consultancy Cenex will deliver the Department for Transport's (DfT) Low Carbon Vehicle Procurement Programme. The aim of the programme, which was announced in the Energy White Paper published in May 2007, is to accelerate the introduction of lower carbon vehicles into the UK vehicle parc, particularly in the public sector.

There is initial funding of £20m available to help public sector bodies meet the costs of switching to low carbon fleets, with an extra £30m  available if the early results are successful. The first phase will concentrate on low-carbon vans and, to a lesser extent, all-electric vans. Meanwhile, Cenex is supporting the expansion of Modec's London dealer network: Modec West London in Colnbrook, near Heathrow, takes the network to six.
