Shell Lubricants has launched two engine oils it claims can improve fuel consumption and reduce exhaust emissions. Its Rimula R6 LME, developed in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz, is designed for long-drain applications and is approved by several OEMs.
According to the company, independent testing has shown a decrease in fuel consumption of up to 1.1% over a10W-40 oil, thus reducing emissions. The second oil, Rimula R4L, has been developed for use with new generation engine technology such
as Euro-5, and is said to offer enhanced protection for both engine and exhaust after-treatment devices.
