Expect claims "significant growth"

18 April 2008

Expect Distribution's new depot, due to open this summer, has been impeded by planning issues and will not now open until the end of the year. In November, the Halifax-based firm received planning permission to build a 100,000ft2 facility at Premier Point, just off J2 of the M606, near Bradford.

The project had been due to be completed this August, but Neil Rushworth, operations director at Expect, says: "The Bradford site has been delayed due to planning issues with the site and  a slow exchange of contract, but things are now moving ahead with certainty and we are due to occupy in late December 2008." The company is currently in talks to secure another 50,000ft2 unit at the Premier Point site.

Rushworth adds: "If this does happen, we will sell our Halifax site and reposition every aspect of the business at Premier Point." Meanwhile, the firm claims it is currently experiencing a "significant growth in sales". The firm, which was named Haulier of the Year at the 2007 Motor Transport Awards, says in the first three months of 2008, it recorded 26% growth in turnover on the same period in 2007.
