The haulage arm of Felixstowe, Suffolk-based Coscon has underlined its plans to exploit the port's growth strategy by contracting a recruitment firm to fill drivers' holiday and sickness cover.
Recruitment Development East has become the container company's sole supplier of temporary drivers. Branch manager Debbie Buck says the new container terminal facilities planned at Harwich and Felixstowe will lead to an additional 3.2 million containers being handled each year.
She adds: "The award of this contract means RD East is well placed to take advantage of the growth plans." Patrick McCourt, Coscon transport and depot manager, adds: "They take the hassle out of using an agency."
