Sheffield firm TAL Logistics has added yet another firm to its portfolio with the capture of 13-truck haulier Phillips (Seahouses). The Northumbrian firm becomes the latest in a long line of North-East-based acquisitions, including the transport operation of Van Hee and Gallacher Brothers. It takes TAL Logistics' fleet to 120 vehicles, with a turnover of £11.5m.
Neil Taylor, chairman of TAL, says: "It was an opportunity that came along we did the due diligence and it made sense. It gives us access to a wider customer base." Taylor says that further acquisitions are planned to widen its geographic scope. Although all of TAL's companies made a loss in the year to 31 March 2007, he says that this situation has now been reversed.
