T66 specialist final-drive oil and T60 gearbox oil are designed to reduce transmission friction. Under MIRA tests, the oils boosted economy by 6.8% on stop/start driving and 5.1% at high-speed. The tests were carried out using a heavily loaded, semi-automatic 38-tonner.
Assuming annual fuel costs of £36,000, that is a saving of £2,000. Q8 commercial manager Phil Davies says: "Fuel prices are hitting operators hard - so using more efficient lubricants is one of the few ways they can drive down costs." Drain intervals for both oils are 300,000km.
