Freight Best Practice (FBP) is looking for operators to take part in an online benchmarking pilot. An FBP spokesman says: "Measuring your own performance is an essential process for any modern-day operator, but to fully understand how your operation compares to that of your peers, benchmarking is essential.
"Over the coming months, FBP in conjunction with the Department for Transport will be developing an online benchmarking service for the industry." The scheme will initially focus,
but will not be restricted to, firms operating primary distribution operations and operators in the aggregates sector, before the full roll-out in 2009.
