Revocation as firm fails to attend public inquiry

30 April 2008

A South Yorkshire company has lost its O-licence after its director and transport manager failed to appear to answer concerns over connections with companies that had their O-licences revoked. Doncaster-based LAG Logistics had been called before North Eastern Deputy Traffic Commissioner Patrick Mulvenna at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry because of concerns over a material change, repute of both the company and its proposed transport manager and professional competence.

The DTC said that application  had been made to add director Robert Salthouse to the licence as transport manager. Records at Companies House showed Salthouse had been appointed as a director in January of this year. Salthouse had been involved with a number of operators whose licences had been revoked. R Salthouse & Son's licence was revoked in September 2004 and Salthouse disqualified from holding an O-licence for 12 months.

Savage had been the transport manager of Lincolnshire Haulage Contractors whose licence was revoked in August 2004 and its director Tracey Morton disqualified from holding an O-licence indefinitely. He had also been the transport manager of Witham Commercials, whose licence was revoked at a public inquiry in October 2004, the Traffic Commissioner disqualifying both the company and its director Andrew Taylor indefinitely.

No-show leaves TC with no alternative

Since the company was not present to answer the DTC's concerns, he could not be satisfied it  met the required professional standards.
