More foreign hauliers in 2009

The government has told the European Commission it will not allow hauliers from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia access to the UK haulage market until 1 May 2009, when EU law gives mandatory access to those countries, as well as to Poland and Hungary. There were fears that trucks from the five countries would have access to the UK market from last week.
