UK-spec aerodynamic curtainsider from Kässbohrer

08 May 2008

Kässbohrer has become the latest manufacturer to offer an aerodynamic curtainsider trailer. Designed, built and trialled over an eight-month period by Tirsan group engineers specifically for Britain's high-volume, pallets-to-parcels logistics fleets, the new design is being assembled by Micra Truck Bodies.

The trailers are shipped in flat-pack form to Immingham from where they are delivered, three per flat trailer, to the Micra factory in Wakefield, West Yorkshire to be re-assembled and  prepared for UK customers. Built to a typical 4.8m high-cube pallet/parcel specification, Micra adds curtains, roof skin and any combination of multiple decking, wood, mesh or flat flooring.

The trailers use Aspock LED lighting and run on the latest BPW running gear. Wide-single tyres can be fitted if required. Kässbohrer's UK agent, KassTal Trailers UK, Halifax, is about to begin a customer evaluation programme. KassTal spokesman Richard Sugden emphasises that the new curtainsiders will have a lead time of no more than 12 weeks and be competitively priced.

KassTal also sells Talson-branded dry freight trailers in the UK. Both Talson and Kassboher are members of the Turkish transport, construction and logistics group Tirsan their products are built in Goch, Germany. The UK-spec trailer complements other Kässbohrer 4.0m standard curtainsiders, double-decks and swap body systems.
