Kobit ready to sweep into UK market

08 May 2008

Czech body building company Kobit has announced plans to move into the UK market for sweepers. The firm has appointed Greenman Environ-mental as sole UK agent and chosen the MAN TGM rigid chassis on which to mount its sweeper bodies. The first unit in the country is based on a 15t MAN TGM 15.244 FLK chassis and carries a 6m³ Kobit 'K6' dual sweeper body.

The unit comes with MAN's 176hp, EGR engine and a TipMatic automatic gearbox. It also has a two-year bodywork and equipment warranty  from Kobit. "The 'big truck' appeal of the MAN will make it hugely attractive to councils and private contractors in the UK," says Jason Poynton, head of sales at Greenman.

"The Kobit body is more than a match for the UK's more familiar brands and we can also provide a range of Kobit products, from 5m³ to 9m³, and with single or dual sweep configurations."

"Kobit enjoys an excellent reputation abroad and has ambitious plans for expansion in the UK," adds Andrew Young, general manager defence and government sales for MAN. "We are delighted that it has recognised our TGM chassis as providing key benefits for operators. The combination looks very appealing, and initial feedback from operators has been very positive."
