Now Glasgow ponders low emission zone

09 May 2008

Glasgow is considering introducing a low emission zone (LEZ) for commercial vehicles. The city council plans to undertake a detailed feasibility study into the issue and begin a public consultation, following the publication of its document Local Air Quality Management: Draft Air Quality Action Plan.

Phil Flanders, RHA director for Scotland and Northern Ireland, says: "Councils have certain air quality targets to meet, but it looks like the wrong people may be picked on as usual. Our  opposition to the London LEZ is well known and we don't want a similar scheme here."
