SAF-Holland signs parts deal with Daf

13 May 2008

Component supplier for the truck and trailer industry SAF-Holland has agreed a strategic co-operation with Daf in the aftermarket business. Daf Trucks will integrate SAF-Holland parts in its Truck and Trailer Parts programmes (TRP), and supply its service dealers across Europe with SAF-Holland parts.

Rudi Ludwig, chief executive officer of the SAF-Holland Group, says:  "We are very pleased with this strategically important co-operation. DAF service dealers are an ideal addition to our global distribution network and an important part of our plan to expand our aftermarket business." The group aims to increase its aftermarket share from 22% to 25% in the medium term, and to 30% in the long term. This contract means that SAF-Holland parts will be available at an extra 1,100 service dealers throughout Europe.

SAF-Holland will also be launching its aluminium fifth wheel which is set to increase payload by up to 33kg. It will initially be available for 20-tonne fifth wheel loads and will come as standard with SAF-Holland's NoLube technology that completely eliminates the use of grease on the top plate and lock mechanism. The aluminium fifth wheel has been available in the US since early 2007.
