Isotrak system to monitor Sainsbury's fleet

16 May 2008

Sainsbury's Online's grocery home delivery fleet is to be fitted with Isotrak's Active Transport Management System by this summer. The system was chosen following a trial during which it proved its credentials by providing accurate, automated information on vehicle activity as well as monitoring temperatures in refrigerated compartments.

The system also incorporates a two-way, in-cab data terminal that provides a simple way to receive job details and confirm drop-offs. Another factor behind  its selection is the system's ability to be integrated with existing customer planning systems.

"The efficiency with which we operate our online business and serve our customers is an essential ingredient to our success," says Simon Skeet, operations manager of Sainsbury's Online. "The advantages of an integrated plan can be seen not only in vehicle, driver and labour efficiency, but also in the environmental benefits it offers in reducing unnecessary road miles."
