A lorry driver and his passenger had a narrow escape last week after their 7.5-tonner crashed through safety barriers on the M50 and was left hanging over a 30ft drop. The incident occurred on Tuesday 20 May between J1, Tewkesbury, and J2, Ledbury.
The driver, who works for wastewater service firm OnSite, was airlifted to hospital due to concerns over blood loss from a leg injury sustained in the crash. Luckily, the wound turned out to be less severe than first thought.
The department manager at OnSite tells MT: "We don't know what happened yet - an investigation will take place. The driver is OK though, which is the main thing." OnSite runs around 100 vehicles across the country.
