Stoke-on-Trent-based Browns Distribution has introduced a carbon calculator into its software to enable customers to work out carbon footprints. The calculator takes into account a delivery vehicle's route mileage and load allocation, plus its fuel consumption and CO2 output.
Originally developed by Browns' sister company Haultech for internal operations, it has now been rolled out to Browns' customer base, with "very positive" feedback, says Brown. He adds that it has already helped boost
the company's operating profit through reduced mileages.
