Greggs has been able to reduce its fleet size by eight vehicles, which it says will save it £200,000 a year, following the implementation of routing and scheduling software from software firm Paragon, at its Manchester bakery. The bakery chain currently operates 12 central bakeries, each of which supplies around 100 shops via fixed routes, with everything distributed overnight.
The software has enabled Greggs to develop a more cost-effective distribution strategy. Greggs, which recently launched a £3m advertising campaign fronted by comedian Paddy McGuiness (pictured) is now looking to roll-out the software nationwide.
