Despite the protests by the road haulage industry yesterday, the Scottish National Party (SNP) amendment to the Finance Bill which would have allowed for the introduction of a fuel duty regulator has been defeated in a vote in the House of Commons.
SNP Treasury spokesman Stewart Hosie says he is disappointed that MPs did not take notice of the desperate situation of many of their constituents and vote in favour of the amendment.
