Putzmeister debuts concrete mini-pump

21 July 2008

Truck-mounted concrete pump specialist Putzmeister UK has used a 7.5t Mitsubishi Fuso Canter as the base for a new model incorporating its compact RoLine concrete pump. The initial order is for six machines, and the new unit is designed for builders and contractors serving the domestic market.

"Our reputation has been built on much larger pumps that we mount on heavier Mercedes-Benz chassis and sell to specialist hire companies and contractors," says Austin Quier, MD of Putzmeister  UK. "But there are also a great many small builders and DIY enthusiasts in the UK whose needs are currently being addressed by the independent concrete providers.

"At present they have two options: to place the concrete using a large pump with a boom, which can often amount to overkill for relatively small volumes, or to employ labourers with wheelbarrows, which is painstaking and inefficient," he continues. "It would take 90 barrow-loads to move four cubic metres of concrete to the back of a house, a task that can be completed in less than six minutes using our system, and with a lot less mess and upheaval."
