MAN will give its TGL and TGM truck ranges their first facelift later this year, just three years after their launch.
The revised light- and medium-weight trucks, which will feature the same smooth grille as the larger TGS and TGX, will be officially launched at September's IAA Show in Hannover.
Interior improvements will include a much needed boost to in-cab storage, new fabrics and trim, an upgraded driver's seat and a longer list of creature comforts.
Powering the new trucks are EGR-equipped Euro 5 and EEV-compliant (effectively Euro 5 and a half) versions of the D08 engine.
The list of safety features will grow, but MAN fears that their take-up will be low without European-wide government subsidies and other financial incentives for the operators of the safest trucks.
The company will also show a hybrid version of the new TGL in Hannover, but don't expect to see these in the showrooms for a number of years. According to MAN board member Karl-Viktor Schaller,
the additional €20,000 (£15,000) price tag means there is currently no business case for them.
