Fixed-penalties given start date

The government has committed to a spring 2009 introduction of the much-delayed fixed-penalty notices for overseas hauliers who flout UK laws. The scheme must first undergo a DfT consultation, due to finish in October.

VOSA examiners will be given the power to issue fixed penalty notices to hauliers for a range of offences, such as drivers' hours, weight or vehicle safety regulations. Click here for more details.
