Spate of lorry-related deaths on UK roads

A number of deaths have occurred after a series of lorry-related accidents on British roads. Just before 6pm on 11 August, a 68-year-old man and a seven-year-old girl died after a road traffic collision with an HGV on the A1 southbound at Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. The deceased will not be identified until the next of kin has been informed.

The following day, at 3.30pm, pedestrian Paul Bouch from Wigton, Cumbria was killed in a collision with a Scania articulated vehicle on the A596 Wigton Bypass. The pedestrian died at the scene the driver, from Kirkby Stephen, who was heading towards Carlisle, was uninjured.

At 4.10pm on the same day, a Renault HGV driven by a Belgian collided with a Renault Clio on the A904, West Lothian. The 63-year-old Clio driver died on the scene, and his passenger suffered rib injuries.
