Steve Prince Transport moves to larger site

21 August 2008

Steve Prince Transport has moved to bigger premises after outgrowing its former headquarters and is gearing up to offer new services to its customers. Managing director of the Essex firm, Steve Prince, tells us: "We outgrew our existing two-acre site about two or three years ago, but it's been hard to find new premises that are big enough for what we need."

The new 14-acre site in Braintree, Essex, includes 65,000ft2 of warehousing with a cold store. Transport manager Ron Prince adds:  "We have new customers joining us on a regular basis either for our Fortec pallet network service or our full load and groupage service, and now we have decided to offer our customers more by storing their goods, offering a container de-vanning service and also a pick-and-pack facility."

According to Ron Prince, 2008 has not been quiet for the firm. "We don't really know what our secret is, but there are a lot of transport firms packing up locally and we think a lot of their customers are transferring over to us. We have had several new customer wins lately."

A member of the Fortec pallet network for five years, Steve Prince turns over £4m a year, has 42 staff and operates 28 vehicles. It will be taking delivery of the first batch of 15 new Dennison Trailers next month.
