Slightly more trucks travelling to Europe

The number of goods vehicles and trailers travelling from the UK to Europe increased by 4% to 759,000 in the second quarter of 2008. This comprised 539,000 vehicles and 220,000 trailers - up 1% and 12% respectively on the same period last year.

The figures from the Department of Transport showed that only 20% of those vehicles were UK registered. Polish trucks accounted for 13%, Dutch for 12% and German for 9%.
