Norbert Dentressangle 'doubles in size'

01 September 2008

Norbert Dentressangle (ND) claims to have effectively doubled in size as a result of its acquisition of Christian Salvesen. The French company posted an 83% increase in revenue for the first half of 2008, boosted by the £254m takeover which was finalised in December 2007.

ND's revenue also rose to €1.6bn (£1.26bn) for the  six-month period. Excluding the acquisition, group revenue was up 7.4%, and the company is aiming for full-year organic revenue growth of 6-8%.

Francois Bertreau, chairman of the executive board at ND, says: "I'm very pleased with ND Group's results for the first half of 2008. The plan for integrating Christian Salvesen's activities was implemented, effectively doubling the group's size."

However, ND has now closed its depot in Fareham, Hants following the end of a 30-day consultation period. In total, 48 employees have been made redundant and the future of the company's depots in Bovey Tracey, Devon, and Pontypool, Gwent, remain uncertain.
