Cash-crisis parcel carrier Amtrak has now ceased trading with the loss of nearly 900 jobs according to its administrator Ernst & Young. The firm collapsed into administration on 22 August, but as MT revealed last week, it had already ceased trading with rival UK Mail targeting its customers.
However, a number of Amtrak's few remaining franchisees are outraged by what they see as the administrators passing on details of what they believe are their customers to a rival.
One franchisee also slams a decision taken six to eight months ago to exclude accounts with a monthly spend of under £100 this was later raised to £300. He says this cost the firm "quality revenue".
He adds: "There was a lack of decisiveness, a lack of direction and, at the end of the day, it was chasing the wrong business model." Another franchisee, who claims she is owed £100,000, blasts: "It's disgusting the way we have been treated."
