Nutsteel opts for a Volvo FH-440

15 September 2008

Nusteel Structures, which designs, builds and delivers bridges and gantries, has added a second Volvo tractor unit to its fleet. The FH-440, with STGO CAT 2, will help Nusteel fulfil a major contract, which technical director Jason Messenger describes as "the largest-ever motorway gantry contract in the UK".

He explains: "It will see 77 gantries replaced on the motorways around Birmingham, as part of the-hard shoulder running programme." The new tractor unit is coupled with a Broshuis  triaxle trombone trailer, at a gross weight of 80 tonnes, to haul the gantries from the Home Counties where they are made.
