A South Wales haulier claims companies with the best levels of customer service will be the ones to survive the current economic downturn. Peter Jones, director at Alan R Jones, based in Newport, says that despite high diesel prices, his company's customer base has remained strong and the firm has continued to grow.
He adds: "Hauliers up and down the country have recently been hit hard by the fuel crisis and many have been in danger of going out of business despite the recent government-announced freeze on fuel duty.
"Our customers remain our number-one priority and our aim is to focus on doing everything we can to respond to their demands. The fuel crisis has affected everybody, but we have tried hard to offer our customers a fair deal and pass on savings whenever we can.
"We care about our customers and their needs, and that is why our customer base has remained strong and we have continued to grow as a business during a particularly challenging economic time."
The firm, a member of the Palletline pallet network, is based on the Queensway Meadows Industrial Estate. It has recently expanded on to an extra two acres of land, developing them into a secure vehicle parking site available for short- or long-term rental.
