Government to invest £67m in fuel efficient driving

Wednesday 17 September 2008 12:00

The FTA and RHA have welcomed the government's £67m package to help operators become more fuel efficient and cut emissions, congestion and costs.

The money, which will go into the DfT's Sustainable Distribution Fund, will boost the Freight Best Practice, Van Best Practice and Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED) schemes.

Freight Best Practice funding will increase from £1.2m to £1.5m a year, while Van Best Practice funding is set to double to £600,000 a year. A new Van Best Practice programme will be funded to 2011.
