ADR training 'is better suited to traffic staff'

18 September 2008

A haulage company boss has called for ADR training to be aimed at operators' traffic office staff rather than drivers. Robert Wilcox, managing director at Massey Wilcox Transport, says the training packages his firm use normally last about a week but are targeted in the wrong way.

He adds: "Drivers are not the best classroom attendees, and whatever  is crammed into their heads to get them through the exam is promptly forgotten a week later. This intensive training is better suited to traffic staff after all, it's their decision what is carried and when. The drivers should have a simple and short 'what to do in the case of an emergency' training session."
