STVA buys Automove's car transporter assets

22 September 2008

Vehicle logistics firm STVA UK has purchased the car transporter assets and contracts of Southampton-based Automove for an undisclosed fee. Under the deal, STVA has acquired Automove's vehicle transportation contracts with BMW, Land Rover and Toyota, which will sit alongside STVA's current agreements with Ford, Jaguar and Renault.

It is hoped the deal will help to increase domestic coverage for the road haulage sector of the bi-modal business, which also operates a rail shipment division.  Christian Musialek, general manager group business development at STVA, claims: "This is part of our ambition to add value to our customers through greater efficiencies and economies of scale."

The firm adds that while there are no immediate plans for expansion, the aim for STVA's UK sector is to increase the customer portfolio to match any growth in the business. Musialek adds it is "unlikely any job losses will occur" as a result of the acquisition.
