Kent Police is considering using the A20 outside Dover as a temporary holding area for port traffic when it implements Operation Stack on the M20.
While no decision has been made on the idea, a spokeswoman for Kent Police says: "Anything that can help traffic move through Kent towards the Continent is always worth a closer look."
