Hundreds of pounds worth of diesel have been stolen from trucks in Teesdale during three days of fuel thefts. Between 16 and 18 September, three HGVs in the Barnard Castle region fell victim to diesel siphoning.

One lorry had 100 litres of fuel stolen and the second 150 litres while they were parked at a lay-by near Stainmore on 16 September.

During the night of 17-18 September, approximately £400 of fuel was siphoned from a third lorry. Barnard Castle Police has also seen a rise  in Land Rover and spare-wheel thefts during the same period.
