Thursday 25 September 2008 12:00

Safety officials are examining the circumstances that led to a lorry driver having his arm amputated after part of his load crushed him. Kent Police was called to Bedlam Court Lane in Minster shortly after 7am today (25 September), where a driver was trapped under a block of marble and granite that had fallen from his truck-mounted crane.

The 43-year-old driver from Lincolnshire had to have his arm amputated at the scene and was later taken to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate. Health & Safety Executive officials are currently investigating the accident.
