New regulations proposed for lorry-loading cranes

01 October 2008

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has proposed changes to bring lorry loading cranes into line with mobile cranes. Currently lorry loading cranes can operate with minimal or no paperwork, even when undertaking big or complicated jobs.

Lifts will be divided into basic, standard and complex depending on the risks involved. HSE specialist inspector Ian Simpson says: "We want to make this risk-based rather than one-size-fits-all."
