Tyre manufacturer Michelin has launched its Michelin X Energy Savergreen tyre, which it claims will save operators up to 500 litres of diesel per truck each year.
By using the firm's new Energy Flex heat-stable casing, the tyre is also said to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 2.5 tonnes during its life in comparison with similar Michelin A2 Energy tyres.
The company adds that the tyre improves safety because of a 7% increase in grip over the existing energy tyres. Although the tyre is now available in some European countries including France, Italy and Germany, it will not be widely available in the UK until early 2009.
