Tesco has revealed it is constantly reviewing its biofuels strategy as doubts emerge over the actual sustainability of the alternative fuel.
The supermarket chain uses a 50/50 biodiesel DERV blend in its haulage fleet, but in light of recent concerns about their links to rising food prices and environmental degradation Tesco has issued a statement saying it is reviewing its policy.
"We are not changing our strategy at present,"
a spokeswoman says. "But we are aware that things aren't quite as clear cut as when we launched the policy, and so we're constantly reviewing it in light of the evidence available."
