Suttons Group expands chemical tanker fleet

09 October 2008

Cheshire-based Suttons Group has taken delivery of five new trucks in the first stage of a multi-million pound fleet replacement programme. The privately owned logistics company, a recent winner of a Motor Transport Safety in Operation award and the Freight Transport Association's 2008 Roadworthiness  award, says the Volvo FM12 tractor units are part of a £5m investment with 77 vehicles to be delivered progressively until spring 2009.

They will join the general-purpose chemical road tanker fleet based at Widnes. All the units meet Euro-5 emissions standards, are fitted with I-Shift gearboxes and satellite tracking, and feature better brake intervention systems.

Andrew Palmer, group managing director, says reliability and strong dealer support were factors in the firm choosing Volvo. He adds: “Today’s economic climate is challenging, but this investment demonstrates Suttons’ continuing commitment to providing our customers with high-quality, safe equipment to underpin our excellent service levels.”
