A lorry driver must complete more than a week of community service after manically driving down the M6 watching television. Benjamin Trotsman has been given 225 hours community work, after Penrith Magistrates heard he had been watching science-fiction series Battlestar Galactica on a laptop in his cab, while the lorry was in motion.
According to the police, 37-year-old Trotsman of Shropshire, drove his Poundstretcher lorry erratically for 25 miles along the M6 through Cumbria. Trotsman pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the 11 December 2007 incident at an earlier hearing, and was given a 15-month driving ban and handed a £546 fine.
