Trumac staff lose jobs as firm closes its doors

07 October 2008

Wiltshire-based Trumac has ceased trading after its administrators were unable to find a buyer for the business. The Westbury refrigerated bodybuilder appointed insolvency experts Harrisons last month in an effort to keep the business trading while a sale was organised. However, despite "considerable" initial interest, no buyers were willing to commit.

The 50 remaining staff have now been dismissed and plant and machinery are to be sold off. John Law at Harrisons blames current market  conditions, but hopes that this is not the beginning of many more closures. He adds: "We won't be able to save the business as a going concern. The business was pared down to complete obvious work in progress the bulk of the shop floor was retained. A couple of people came in late [but] there was not much left at that point."
