Haulier F Brown (Carlisle) has sold off more than half of its fleet in a bid to downsize to survive the current economic climate. Malcolm Harrison Auctions handled the sale at an auction on Saturday 4 October at the haulier's premises in Carlisle, Cumbria.
A spokesperson for the firm tells MT: "We're left with just under 30 vehicles after the auction.
"Basically, the work isn't there goods just aren't being shifted and we don't see the point in having vehicles working at 70% of their capacity. It's not economical," adds the spokesperson. The firm has new kit on order for next June, but says: "If things don't pick up we'll have to cancel the order."
