Norfolk Line has introduced a policy of buying only trailers that can be transported by both road and rail. The firm, which offers a regular multimodal service between the UK and Italy, says its preferred trailer maker is Krone as it offers swap bodies, curtainsiders and lifting- and sliding-roof options.
Mervyn McIntyre, equipment manager
at Norfolk Line, says: "Krone trailers are extremely well manufactured and all of their models can be adapted to suit our multimodal way of operating. "Although the rail infrastructure across Europe is not quite there yet, we believe this progressive policy will help environmental and congestion issues in the future."
