DHL has become the first private-sector parcels business to make its mark on the UK high street with the announcement of a partnership with retailer WHSmith.

The deal will see DHL service points appearing in 400 WHSmith stores and will more than double the total number of DHL service points in the UK, to over 750.

The concept will allow consumers to send goods in any one of six box sizes directly from the WHSmith store.

DHL Express UK and Ireland CEO Ken McCall says: "We identified a gap in the market and our research showed that consumers want choice, easy access and well-priced express delivery services - which is exactly what these offer."
