Dumfrieshire haulier Currie European is fitting its entire fleet - 80 tractor units and 420 trailers - with a Masternaut telematics system. The product operates in real-time and is web-based. "We anticipate that the new system will enable us to achieve efficiency improvements and our opening target is to make this investment cost-neutral.
"We have immediately implemented some of the Masternaut reporting functions to give us an instant and accurate view of vehicles idling their engines for more than 15 minutes and to identify trailers that are at standstill," says Steve Walls, business systems director at Currie.
Currie will also use MasterCold on its reefers, a system that tracks the trailer continuously, logs temperatures and transmits them live over the web. It also provides automatic alerts if the temperature gets too high or low.
