Data is transmitted via the O2 network to Cybit's online control centre. The software provides information on vehicle, driver and load manifest information order and includes workflow management, engine management reporting, fuel performance monitoring, and drivers' hours compliance. Fleetstar Logistics is available with a touch-screen in-cab device, providing navigation, workflow and delivery schedule information to the driver.
John Wisdom, Cybit sales and marketing director, says: "Most telematics platforms operate across several different industry sectors. However, Fleetstar Logistics is on a bespoke platform, meant for the logistics industry only. It's also user-friendly at the coalface in the transport office." Meanwhile, Cybit has been awarded a contract by Powys County Council to provide a system to manage the operations and servicing of 450 winter road maintenance and highways services vehicles, such as gritters and gully emptiers.
Cybit has fitted each maintenance vehicle with a GPS tracking unit and a mobile data terminal allowing them to be tracked and monitored in real time to keep drivers and managers informed about roads already serviced or awaiting attention.
Following its acquisition of public sector specialist Amatics, Cybit has created a business division devoted entirely to producing telematics suited to the requirements of local authorities.
