Tonbridge-based S&S Distribution has taken delivery of its first Iveco: a Stralis Active Space Super3 6x2 twin-steer tractor, supplied by local dealer Stormont Truck & Van. Plated at 44 tonnes and powered by the 10.3-litre, 450hp Cursor 10 engine, the unit will operate for up to eight years as part of the group's 50-strong fleet.
S&S director Chris Burt says the key consideration was driver acceptance: "Each of our vehicles clocks up in excess of 160,000km a year, primarily
on a single-shift system, so ensuring our drivers like their vehicles is essential.
"When I drove the new Stralis, I realised first hand that it was as good from a driver's perspective as any other modern heavy truck on the market." Burt was also impressed by feedback on the Stralis from Meachers Transport.
