Acumen Distribution has taken delivery of five Daf XF105s to work on its long-term contract with Johnson Controls Automotive. The 460hp Dafs will be used on Acumen's Redditch outbound operation, delivering Johnson's seating systems to Land Rover's manufacturing plant in Solihull on a just-in-time basis.
Rather than refleeting, the order marks an expansion of Acumen's 80-strong fleet as turnover increased 120% in the last financial year. The units were ordered from Riverside Truck Rental on a full-maintenance contract-hire agreement.
As well as automotive supply-chain logistics, Acumen also specialises in healthcare and retail logistics, as well as providing contracts services for kerbside recycling collections and the transport of gases and chemicals.
Meanwhile, PVCu window and door manufacturer Profile 22 Systems is refleeting its 10-strong fleet with another 10 Dafs. The order includes five CF85 rigids, rated at 360hp, and four FT XF105 tractors, rated at 410hp. A CF85 drawbar will join the fleet later this year.
The new trucks are based at Profile 22's distribution centre in Telford. They are all fitted with AS Tronic gearboxes, ZF intarders and Space cabs. Newton Abbot dealer Wesssex Daf has sole supplier status with Profile 22's parent company.
