Dairy Crest driver jobs at risk

Wednesday 29 October 2008 12:00

Nearly 40 drivers' jobs at Dairy Crest could be at risk as a result of cost pressures, despite the firm opening a new regional distribution centre (RDC) at Aldridge in the West Midlands.

The firm, which supplies milk to supermarkets Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Lidl, has begun a consultation on the future of its Nottingham dairy plant – which employs 215 people – and says there may also be staff cuts at its head office in Surrey.

Arthur Reeves, external affairs director at Dairy Crest, says: "A total of 38 drivers could be affected. If Nottingham was to close we would move production to London and Liverpool."
