Tories pledge not to bring back LRUC

06 November 2008

Shadow transport minister Stephen Hammond has said that a future Conservative government would not resurrect plans for a lorry road user charge: "Foreign competitors are a real problem for British hauliers and too many family-run businesses are falling by the wayside," he added.

Paul Clark, transport under secretary, retorted to Hammond's comments by saying that road user charging policies should remain in the hands of local government.
